Bengals vs. Browns Pick
AFC North rivals clash in Ohio this Sunday as the Cleveland Browns host the Cincinnati Bengals in an intrastate battle at 1:00PM ET. Let’s preview this matchup and hand out a free pick.
Before we make a pick on this game, let’s take a look at the odds.
Oddsmakers from online sports book BroburySports.com have made the Bengals 3-point road favorites over the Browns in Week 4. The over/under total for this game has been set at 37 points.
One of the big factors that went into this free pick for me is the average play of quarterback Carson Palmer. Despite the Bengals’ 20-7 win over the Panthers last weekend, Palmer was brutal and Cincinnati’s offense was highly ineffective on a whole.
Palmer’s decision-making has come into question and his arm strength looks rather ordinary. The Bengals thought that they fixed their passing woes this offseason with the acquisitions of free agent Terrell Owens and rookies Jermaine Gresham and Jordan Shipley. Who knew that their former No. 1 overall pick at quarterback would be the problem?
The Free Pick:
The underdog is 6-0 against the spread in the last six meetings between these two teams and Cleveland is 7-1 ATS versus the AFC in its last eight games. The Browns are 0-3 but are coming off a nice effort against the Ravens last weekend in Baltimore. Jake Delhomme may be healthy enough to play, but hopefully Seneca Wallace gets a least one more shot under center because he provides the Browns with more mobility. Look for corner Eric Wright to have a bounce back game and for the Browns to pick up their first win of the year. There’s a lot of value in Cleveland getting points at home this weekend, especially given how bad the Bengals looked last Sunday.
