SD leaving door open to Rivers trade?
SAN DIEGO, CA (The Spread) – Is it possible that the Chargers could be leaving the door open to a potential trade involving quarterback Philip Rivers?
Even though the team has made it clear that it doesn’t want to trade Rivers, NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport suggests that the possibility remains open. Says Rapoport: “But what I have not heard, is we will not trade Rivers.”
Rapoport also reports that it would take “multiple first-round picks” for the Chargers to trade their 33-year-old quarterback. The team recently approached Rivers about an extension but were rebuffed, so it’s possible the team is just doing its due diligence to ensure that it gets something in return if Rivers’ future isn’t in San Diego. At the end of the day, it’s hard to envision Rivers in any other uniform but this has been the offseason of trades so anything is a possibility.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Chargers are 40/1 long shots to win the 2016 Super Bowl.
