The Dolphins signed quarterback Jay Cutler to a one-year, $10 million contract when Ryan Tannehill went down for the season with a knee injury early in camp. The team also added former Steelers linebacker Lawrence Timmons in free agency, as well as safety Nate Allen and guard Jermon Bushrod.
In the draft, meanwhile, Miami selected Missouri defensive end Charles Harris with its first pick (22nd overall). In the second round, the Dolphins nabbed Ohio State linebacker Raekwon McMillan and in the third, Miami took Clemson cornerback Cordrea Tankersley. Utah guard Isaac Asiata was the team’s first offensive pick, which came with the 164th selection in the fifth round.

OUR PREDICTION: Vegas nailed this number. I think the Dolphins are a 7-8 win team and I lean towards the over assuming Cutler plays well under his former OC Adam Gase. The backend of the defense is a concern, but the offense and defensive line has enough talent to win eight games. The Dolphins overachieved a bit in winning 10 games a year ago but I don’t think they take a significant step backwards in 2017.
