NFL Week 5 Point Spreads
As oddsmakers get a better handle on the capabilities of each team in the NFL, the point spreads are starting to grow bigger as the league turns the page to Week 5 of the season.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the largest point spread on the Week 5 schedule is in Kansas City where the struggling Chiefs are 10-point home favorites versus the Bears. Chicago just picked up its first victory of the season on Sunday when it kicked a last-second field goal to beat Oakland. Despite the win, oddsmakers clearly aren’t buying some sort of revival for the Bears.
Oddsmakers aren’t giving much respect to a Rams team that upset the Cardinals in Week 4 either. St. Louis is a 9.5-point road underdog versus Green Bay on Sunday, although the spread probably has more to do with the Packers than the Rams. Despite coming off a short week of rest, the Packers covered in San Francisco as a 7.5-point road favorite in Week 4. Green Bay limited the 49ers to just a field goal in a 17-3 victory.
Speaking of the 49ers, they’re 7-point road dogs versus the Giants on Sunday Night Football this week, while the Chargers are 3.5-point home favorites versus the Steelers on Monday Night Football. As for the Thursday night game, the Colts-Texans matchup doesn’t have a point spread due to the health status of Andrew Luck. He missed the first game of his NFL career on Sunday when the Colts beat the Jaguars in overtime.
