2015-16 Odds to make NFL Playoffs
Which teams have the best and worst odds to make the playoffs this NFL season?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.ag, the team with the best odds to make the playoffs is Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts, with 1/9 odds. Their odds slightly beat out the Packers (1/7), Seahawks (1/7) and Patriots (2/9) despite those three teams being co-favored to win the Super Bowl this season. (The Colts play in arguably the weakest division in football, which boasts their odds to make the playoffs.)
The teams with the longest odds to reach the postseason this year are the Tennessee Titans and Jacksonville Jaguars, who are 8/1, respectively. Tennessee is starting a rookie quarterback in Marcus Mariota with scant talent around him, while Jacksonville hasn’t rebuilt quickly under coach Gus Bradley, who is entering his third season with the Jaguars. Not surprisingly, both the Titans and Jaguars have the longest odds of any team to win the 2016 Super Bowl as well.
If you’re looking for good value, the Vikings at 177/100 are an underrated team to make the playoffs. Teddy Bridgewater had a strong rookie season and only should get better now that Adrian Peterson has returned from suspension. Coach Mike Zimmer’s defense is also underrated and with the Packers losing Jordy Nelson to a season-ending injury, suddenly Green Bay doesn’t look as formidable as it did at the start of the preseason. Minnesota could be a surprise team to make the playoffs and at 177/100 odds, the Vikings represent some value to bettors.
