Dolphins vs. Texans Week 1 Odds
HOUSTON, TX (The Spread) – Two teams likely heading in opposite directions from the start will square off in Houston on Sunday when the Texans host the Dolphins at 1:00PM ET
MIAMI: The Dolphins have started a new era under coach Joe Philbin and rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill. While this team will be better than most expect, Tannehill will struggling as he learns the nuances of the pro game. He also lacks a No. 1-caliber receiver so big plays could be at a premium.
HOUSTON: The Texans are stacked and ready to challenge for a Super Bowl. Their roster is extremely talented and led by DC Wade Philips, the defense is one of the best in the league. Matt Schaub has yet to lead the Texans to the playoffs (he was injured well before Houston qualified for the postseason last year), but he’ll have plenty of help thanks to Arian Foster, Andre Johnson and Ben Tate. Thanks to a soft division schedule, the Texans should roll through the regular season with very few blemishes.
ODDS: The Texans opened as 6.5-point favorites but the spread has jumped to 11.5 as 83% of the betting public currently favors the home favorite. The over/under is currently sitting at 43 points.
TRENDS: The under is 3-1-1 in the last five meetings between these two teams while the underdog is 5-1 against the spread in the last six meetings between these two teams. The road team is also 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings.
