Colts vs. Bears Week 1 Odds
CHICAGO, IL (The Spread) – The Bears will open their season against a Colts team ready to start a new era.
INDIANAPOLIS: The Colts waived goodbye to the Peyton Manning era during the offseason and will usher in the Andrew Luck era on Sunday. Luck was selected with the No. 1 overall pick in April’s draft and while this will be a more competitive team in 2012 than it was in 2011, it’ll be awhile before new coach Chuck Pagano can put his stamp on things. At least Luck will be fun to watch in the meantime.
CHICAGO: The Bears were aggressive this offseason, swinging a trade with Miami for troubled but talented wide receiver Brandon Marshall, who will pair with his former Denver teammate Jay Cutler. The Bears’ offensive line remains a question mark and the defense is getting long in the tooth. But the Bears should challenge for a playoff spot in 2012.
ODDS: The Bears opened as 9-point favorites but the spread has jumped a half point to 9.5. The over/under total, meanwhile, is currently sitting at 41.5 points as oddsmakers aren’t quite sure of how much Luck will impact Indianapolis’ scoring.
TRENDS: The Colts are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games overall but 0-4 ATS in their last four games in Week 1. The Bears are 1-4 against the spread in their last five games on grass while the under is 7-1 in their last eight games in Week 1.
