Saints vs. 49ers Odds
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (The Spread) – Some view the Saints as the team to beat now in the NFC, but they have a tough road matchup this Saturday versus the 49ers.
NEW ORLEANS: While the Lions made it a game until the fourth quarter, the Saints advanced to the Divisional round with a 45-28 victory over Detroit last Saturday night during Wildcard Weekend. Drew Brees threw for 466 yards and three touchdowns while Marques Colston racked up 120 receiving yards on seven catches. The Saints covered as 10.5-point favorites and they improved their ATS record to 13-4 this season. Brees led the team with 5,476 passing yards during the regular season while tight end Jimmy Graham finished with a team-high 1,310 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns.
SAN FRANCISCO: The Niners were the first team to clinch a playoff berth in either conference and wound up winning the NFC West in Jim Harbaugh’s first year as head coach. San Fran also earned a first round bye when it finished 13-3 during the regular season, and the Niners were also one of the most successful teams against the spread going 12-3-1. Frank Gore led the team with 1,211 rushing yards and eight touchdowns, while rookie Aldon Smith led the defense with 14 sacks. The Niners finished fourth in yards allowed this season (308.1 YPG), first in rushing yards allowed per game (77.3), and second in points allowed (14.2). If any team is equipped to slow down Brees’ and Co., it might be the Niners.
