Giants vs. Packers Divisional Odds
GREEN BAY, WS (The Spread) – The Giants have won three straight games but they find themselves as more than touchdown underdogs Sunday versus the Packers.
NEW YORK: The Giants embarrassed the Falcons in Wildcard Weekend, covering easily as a 3-point favorite in 24-2 victory. Eli Manning completed 23-of-32 passes for 277 yards and three touchdowns, while Hakeem Nicks racked up six catches and 115 yards with two touchdowns. The defense suffocated Matt Ryan (24-of-41, 199 yards) and limited Michael Turner to just 41 yards on 15 carries. It was the Giants’ third win in a row and fourth victory in their last five games overall. They finished the regular season at 9-7 overall and 8-7-1 against the spread.
GREEN BAY: The lone blemish on the Packers’ regular season was a 19-14 loss to the Chiefs in mid December. Otherwise, the defending Super Bowl champions were unbeatable this season, including in a wild 45-41 victory over the Lions in Week 17. Aaron Rodgers threw for 4,643 yards this year while Jordy Nelson led the team in touchdowns (15) and receiving yards (1,263). Dom Capers defense wasn’t as good this season as it was in 2010, as Clay Matthews led the team with only six sacks. That said, it’s hard to beat an opponent that can score 40 points on the drop of a dime.
ODDS: Oddsmakers have installed the Packers as 7.5-point favorites over the Giants for Sunday’s game, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 53 points. New York enters the day at 10-7 overall and 5-3 on the road, while Green Bay is 15-1 overall and 8-0 at home this season.
TRENDS: The over is 4-0 in the last four meetings between these two teams and 8-2 in the Packers’ last 10 games overall. The road team is 5-2 against the number in the last seven meetings between these two teams while the underdog is 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall. The Giants are 6-0 against the spread in their last six playoff road games and 6-1 ATS in their last seven playoff games overall.
