2012 NFC Championship Odds
(The Spread) – Unsurprisingly, oddsmakers have made the defending champion Green Bay Packers as the favorites to win the 2012 NFC Championship. Continue reading for 2012 NFC title odds on all 16 teams.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com has made the Packers +275 on the money line to win the 2012 NFC Championship Game. Several teams, including the Atlanta Falcons, Chicago Bears, New Orleans Saints, New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles are +650 on the money line.
The long shots are the Dallas Cowboys (+900), Arizona Cardinals (+4000), Seattle Seahawks (+4000), Minnesota Vikings (+1800), San Francisco 49ers (+1800), St. Louis Rams (+2500), Detroit Lions (+2300) and Carolina Panthers (+12500).
It’s been 14 years since the last time a NFC team won back-to-back titles. Ironically, that team was the Packers, who beat the Panthers in 1996 and the 49ers in 1997. Still, there’s not much value in Green Bay at +275 on the money line, even if Aaron Rodgers and the young Pack have the potential to build a dynasty.
That’s why the Falcons, Bears, Saints, Giants and Eagles represent more value at this point at +650. All of these teams, save for the Giants, made the playoffs this year and are built to win over the long-term. Obviously the Saints won the Super Bowl two years ago and the Falcons were the No. 1 seed in 2010. Don’t forget that the Packers lost in the Wild Card Round in 2009 before winning the title in 2010.
The Packers are the clear-cut choice, but don’t be afraid to search for value.
