2012 AFC Championship Odds
(The Spread) – Even though the Pittsburgh Steelers represented the AFC in last year’s Super Bowl, they’re not the team that the oddsmakers chose to favor in next year’s title game. Continue reading for a complete list of odds on the 2012 AFC Championship.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com, the New England Patriots are favored at +250 on the money line to win the AFC title game in 2012. The Steelers have the next best odds at +400.
The Baltimore Ravens, New York Jets and San Diego Chargers are +600, while the Indianapolis Colts are +900 and the Kansas City Chiefs are +1500. The long shots are the Houston Texans at +1800, the Miami Dolphins at +2000, the Oakland Raiders at +2500, and the Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, Denver Broncos, Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee Titans at +3000. The Buffalo Bills are +10000.
The Patriots earned the top seed in the NFC but fell to the Jets in the Divisional Round. They were the favorites to win Super Bowl XLV, but an injury to Tom Brady certainly threw a wrinkle in their plans.
Some long-shots to keep an eye on are the Raiders, who went 6-0 against the AFC West in 2010 and whose offense should fire on all cylinders again next season now that Hue Jackson has been hired as head coach. They would need a great year out of Jason Campbell, but in the NFL you never know what teams will surprise. Look at the 2010 Chiefs if you need proof of that.
That said, the Steelers represent good value thanks to the Patriots. At +600, you could pick either the Steelers or Jets – two teams that played in the AFC title game last year. Those odds represent value.
