Giants vs. Patriots NFL Week 9 Odds
(The Spread) – Fresh off their loss to the Steelers in Week 8, the Patriots will be seeking revenge when they host the Giants at 4:15PM ET this Sunday.
NEW YORK: For the third time in four weeks, the Giants need a fourth-quarter comeback to beat an opponent last Sunday. That’s a little shocking when you consider that Miami was their opponent in Week 8, but maybe the G-Men got caught looking ahead to their upcoming tilt with the Patriots this weekend. At least the Giants won, which raised their record to 5-2 on the year but 3-3-1 against the spread as they failed to cover. They’re 2-1 against the number on the road this season after beating the Eagles in Week 3 as a 9-point underdog and the Cardinals in Week 4 as a 1-point dog.
NEW ENGLAND: It’ll likely be a long week for the Patriot players following their lackluster effort in a 25-17 loss to the Steelers last Sunday. The defeat dropped New England’s record to 5-2 on the year and 4-3 against the spread. This Sunday will give the Pats an opportunity to avenge their loss to the Giants in the Super Bowl a few years back. New York ruined Bill Belichick and Tom Brady’s perfect season that year.
ODDS: Oddsmakers have installed the Patriots as 9-point favorites over the Giants, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 51 points. New York is 2-1 on the road this year while New England is a perfect 3-0 at home.
TRENDS: The Giants are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games against the Patriots while the underdog is 4-1 ATS during that same span. The Patriots are 6-1 against the number in their last seven games following an ATS loss but 1-5 ATS in their last six games in Week 9. The Giants, meanwhile, are 29-13 ATS in their last 42 road games and 13-6 ATS in their last 19 games as a road underdog.
