2011 NFL Week 8 Odds on CBS: Jaguars vs. Texans Spread & Totals

Jaguars vs. Texans NFL Week 8 Odds

(The Spread) – AFC South rivals meet in Houston this Sunday when the Texans host the Jaguars at 1:00PM ET.

JACKSONVILLE: The Jaguars are coming off a seemingly improbable victory over the Ravens on Monday night. Not many people saw Jacksonville covering the 10-point spread nevertheless winning outright and completing shutting the Ravens down offensively. The victory improved the Jaguars’ season record to 2-5 and their ATS record to 3-4. Rookie Blaine Gabbert has now thrown for 810 yards while Maurice Jones-Drew has 677 rushing yards on the year.

HOUSTON: The Texans got back on track in a big way last Sunday, crushing the Titans 41-7 as a 3-point underdog. Houston had lost its previous two games to the Raiders (25-20) and Ravens (29-14), but is now 4-3 on the year and 4-3 against the spread. Matt Schaub has thrown for 1,893 yards while Arian Foster leads the team with four touchdowns. The hope is that receiver Andre Johnson (hamstring) will be healthy enough to play this week but he didn’t sound overly optimistic on Wednesday when he tried to run in practice. He remains questionable and will likely be a game-time decision unless his situation improves over the next two days.

ODDS: Oddsmakers have installed the Texans as 9.5-point favorites over the Jaguars for Sunday’s game, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 40.5 points. Jacksonville is 0-3 on the road this season while Houston is 2-1 at home.

TRENDS: The home team is 4-1 against the spread in the last five meetings between these two teams while the over is 6-2 in the last eight meetings. The Jaguars are 1-4 against the spread in their last five road games against the Texans and 2-6 ATS in their last eight games as an underdog.
