2011 NFL Week 4 Trends Report
(The Spread) – Which teams have historical had the most success covering the spread against their Week 4 opponents?
Everyone is high on the Lions this year – and for good reason given their 3-0 start. But according to latest NFL trends, Detroit is just 2-5 against the spread in its last seven games against Dallas while the home team is 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings between these two teams.
Speaking of teams that are 3-0, the Bills are 4-0 against the spread in their last four games against the Bengals and 4-0 ATS in their last four trips to Cincinnati. The road team is also 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings between these two teams, although so is the underdog (which is usually the Bills).
While we’re talking about underdogs, the dog is 8-2 against the number in the last 10 meetings between the Redskins and Rams, while Washington is 0-4 ATS in its last four games against St. Louis. That said, the road team is 7-3 ATS in the last 10 meetings between these two teams, so maybe Mike Shanahan’s team will get a big road win on Sunday.
If the historical matchups mean anything, the Dolphins could keep things close in San Diego this Sunday. Miami is 5-1 against the spread in its last six games against the Chargers and 4-1 ATS in its last five road games versus San Diego. The under is also 8-0 in the last eight meetings between these two teams and 5-0 in the last five meetings in San Diego.
