Lions vs. Cowboys Free Pick
(The Spread) – The Lions will look to run their record to 4-0 when they take on a banged up Cowboys team in Dallas today at 1:00PM ET.
NFL Odds: Oddsmakers currently list the Cowboys as 1.5-point favorites against the Lions, while the over/under total for this game is sitting at 46 points. Detroit comes into the game 3-0 but 2-1 against the spread after failing to cover last Sunday in Minnesota, while Dallas is 2-1 and 1-1-1 against the number.
Line Movement: The Cowboys opened as 1.5-point favorites at the Las Vegas Hilton but the line has since dropped to 1, probably due to the public’s backing of the feel-good Lions. Dallas also didn’t play very well in a win over the Redskins on Monday night, which probably has something to do with the spread being so low. The over/under total is now 46 after opening at 47.
Public Betting: Of the 11,000-plus wagers on today’s game, 76% of NFL public bettors currently favor the Lions +1.5. This information is subject to change leading up to kickoff, however, so make sure you click on the link provided for the most up-to-date NFL public betting numbers.
NFL Week 4 Free Pick: Take Detroit. If the Cowboys play as poorly today as they did on Monday night against the Redskins, the Lions should have no problems winning this game outright. Of course, the Cowboys are dealing with a ton of injuries and while they will get players like Mike Jenkins back this Sunday, it won’t be enough to beat a Detroit team that is playing with a ton of confidence. (Especially after last week when they came from behind to beat the Vikings on the road.) According to latest NFL trends, the Lions are 8-0-1 against the spread in their last nine games following a straight up win and 5-0 ATS in their last five games as an underdog. Dallas, meanwhile, is 1-6 against the number in its lat seven games as a home favorite and 0-4 ATS in its last for games in October.
2011 NFL WEEK 4 FREE PICK: DETROIT LIONS +1.5
