Jets vs. Dolphins Week 17 Odds
MIAMI, FL (The Spread) – The Jets need to beat the Dolphins on Sunday and then receive a little help to make the playoffs in the AFC.
NEW YORK: The Jets put themselves in a bad spot with their ugly loss to the Giants last Sunday. Instead of controlling their own destiny in Week 17, they have to beat the Dolphins and hope that Cincinnati, Oakland and Tennessee all lose because those three teams hold tiebreakers over the Jets. While the defense didn’t play up to its usual standards this season and the running game was highly inconsistent, had quarterback Mark Sanchez been more efficient maybe the Jets would be playoff bound. Instead, they’ll look to notch a victory in Miami this weekend and hope for the best when it comes to those other teams losing.
MIAMI: The Dolphins blew a 17-0 lead at New England last Sunday to fall to 5-10 on the year. That said, they’ve covered the spread in eight of their last nine games and continue to fight until the bitter end. Matt Moore threw for 294 yards and three touchdowns last week, while Reggie Bush finished with 113 yards on 22 carries. While they have nothing to play for this week as a team, look for Moore and Bush to put on a good show in efforts of landing starting jobs next season. (Whether that be in Miami or elsewhere.)

TRENDS: The Jets are 7-1 against the spread in their last eight trips to Miami and 19-6-2 against the number in their last 27 games versus the Dolphins. The road team is 7-2-1 ATS in the last 10 meetings between these two teams while the underdog is 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings.
