Texans vs. Bengals Week 14 Odds
CINCINNATI, OH (The Spread) – While the Texans look to maintain their lead in the AFC South, the Bengals are fighting for the final Wild Card spot in the conference. The teams will battle at 1:00PM ET on Sunday.
HOUSTON: The Texans continue to lose players to injury left and right and yet they keep winning. Their latest victory came against the Falcons, whom they defeated 17-10 behind a decent performance by rookie T.J. Yates. The win didn’t come without more consequences though, as Andre Johnson suffered another hamstring injury. (Only this time the injury was to his other hamstring.) Johnson’s status for Sunday remains up in the air, although coach Gary Kubiak said that the situation wasn’t as serious as the receiver’s prior hamstring injury. With its win over Atlanta, Houston is now 9-3 overall and 8-3-1 against the spread.
CINCINNATI: The Bengals remain in playoff contention but last week’s 35-7 loss to the Steelers didn’t bread a lot of confidence in Cincinnati’s ability to finish strong. In fact, it was the Bengals’ third loss in four games, which dropped their record to 7-5 overall and 7-4-1 against the spread. They’re currently looking up at both Pittsburgh (9-3) and Baltimore (9-3) in the AFC North with just four games remaining on their regular season schedule. With matchups against the Rams and Cardinals coming up, however, if Cincinnati can find a way to beat Houston on Sunday then the Bengals certainly could make a run and clinch a postseason berth in these last four weeks.
ODDS: Oddsmakers have installed the Bengals as 3-point favorites over the Texans, while Sunday’s over/under total is currently 37.5 points. Houston enters the game with a 9-3 record and is 4-2 on the road this season, while Cincinnati is 7-5 overall and 3-2 at home.
TRENDS: The Bengals are 0-3-1 against the spread in their last four games overall and 0-3-1 ATS in their last four games versus the AFC. Cincinnati is also just 7-20 ATS in its last 27 games as a favorite and 7-18-1 ATS in its last 26 games as a home favorite. The Texans, meanwhile, are 5-0-1 ATS in their last six games overall and 3-0-1 ATS in their last four games versus the AFC.
