2011 NFL Week 10 Opening Point Spread Odds & Over/Under Totals

NFL Week 10 Opening Odds

(The Spread) – Several key divisional matchups and one big conference tilt in the NFC highlight the Week 10 schedule in the NFL.

Battle for first place in the NFC South

One game separates the New Orleans Saints (6-3) and the Atlanta Falcons (5-3) in the NFC South standings. The two teams will meet this Sunday in what should be one of the best matchups of Week 10. The Saints are unbeaten at home this year but they’re just 2-3 on the road, which includes their shocking loss to the Rams in Week 9. The Falcons, meanwhile, stumbled out of the gates but have now won three in a row and are starting to hit their stride offensively. New Orleans opened as a 2.5-point favorite although the line is already down to 1 at most sports books.

The AFC East is up for grabs on SNF

First place in the AFC East is on the line this Sunday when the New York Jets (5-3) hosts the stumbling New England Patriots (5-3) on Sunday Night Football. While the Jets have won three in a row to turn their early-season misfortunes around, the Patriots have lost two straight and are searching for answers. New England finds itself as a rare 1-point underdog this Sunday versus a New York team that is playing nasty defense under coach Rex Ryan.

Huge NFC Conference tilt

The game of the week might not include divisional opponents. The 6-2 New York Giants will once again hit the road when they face the 7-1 San Francisco 49ers at 4:15PM ET this Sunday. The Giants have opened as 3.5-point underdogs, even though they’re coming off an impressive victory against the Patriots in New England. Thanks to their outstanding defense, special teams and Frank Gore, the Niners are running away with the NFC West and might have the inside track to claiming the top seed in the NFC under new coach Jim Harbaugh.

Thursday Night Special

For the first time in 2011, the NFL will have Thursday night football on the NFL Network. The struggling San Diego Chargers (4-4) will host the struggling Oakland Raiders (4-4) in a game that might catapult the winner to an AFC West divisional crown. The Chargers have lost three in a row while Oakland has lost two straight after losing quarterback Jason Campbell for the season. Oddsmakers have installed San Diego as a 6.5-point favorite for this contest.
