According to oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com, the NFC is 1-point favorites over the AFC in the 2011 Pro Bowl. The over/under total for this game is currently 63 points.
In the past 10 years, the AFC has beaten the NFC six times, including a 41-34 victory last year. In those 10 games, the two teams averaged 65.7 points and six of the last 10 Pro Bowls have gone over 60 points. In the past 11 Pro Bowls, the over has hit nine times, so that’s certainly something to consider if you’re betting this year’s NFL all-star game.
One of the reasons why the over has done so well is because of the rules. Teams can’t blitz, so quarterbacks usually have plenty of time to find open receivers, which leads to big scores. The rules are in place to help limit injuries but in doing so, they also create a very offensive-friendly game.
Given the amount of offensive firepower in this game, it’s not hard to believe that we could be in store for another high-scoring game. Philip Rivers, Peyton Manning, Michael Vick, Matt Ryan and Drew Brees will quarterback, while Dwayne Bowe, Reggie Wayne, Calvin Johnson and Roddy White will be just some of the receivers catching passes from these top signal callers.
The 2011 Pro Bowl will take place from Hawaii at 7:00PM ET on Sunday, January 30. The game will be played at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii and will be broadcast on FOX. Thom Brennaman, Terry Bradshaw and Brian Billick will be the announcers.
