2011 NFL on FOX: 49ers vs. Lions Odds & Spread for Week 6

49ers vs. Lions Odds

(The Spread) – Two of the biggest surprises of 2011 will battle in Detroit on Sunday when the 49ers host the Lions at 1:00PM ET in Week 6.

The 49ers enter the week with a 4-1 record after winning their third straight game last Sunday. And what a win it was. San Francisco blasted Tampa Bay 48-3, easily covering the 2.5-point spread. The Niners are now 4-0-1 against the number this season while the over has covered in four of their five games.

The Lions remained one of only two undefeated teams in the league when they knocked off their NFC North rivals the Bears on Monday night. The win pushed their record to 5-0 overall and 4-0-1 against the spread, while the over has covered in all but one of their games (vs. Chicago on Monday).

Oddsmakers have installed Matthew Stafford and the Lions as 4-point favorites over the visiting 49ers for Sunday’s game, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 46.5 points. The line actually opened at 7 but bettors have brought that number down dramatically over the course of the week, assumingly because the public has faith in San Francisco and its solid defense.

According to latest NFL trends, the under is 7-0 in the last seven meetings between these two teams while the Niners are 4-1-2 against the spread versus the Lions in the last seven meetings between these two teams. This game can be seen on FOX this Sunday at 1:00PM ET.
