NFL Week 9 Free Picks
(The Spread) – A few dogs caught our eye in Week 9. Check out who they were in our NFL predictions for this Sunday.
Unfortunately we couldn’t have asked for a worse Sunday than in Week 8. Once the Saints scored a meaningless touchdown against the Rams to push the total over when we were sitting on the under 48, we knew it was going to be a bad day. And it was.
The Saints/Rams under, the Giants, the Broncos and the Seahawks were all losers for us last Sunday, giving us our first 0-4 week of the year. That dropped our season record below .500 as well, as we’re now 15-16-1 ATS for 2011. We’ll see if we can’t rebound with a big Sunday in Week 9.
The Falcons are conservative by nature under coach Mike Smith and offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey, which means they rarely blow teams out. Despite the fact that their offense stumbled out of the gates, Atlanta is a 7-point road favorite this Sunday at Indianapolis with a date against New Orleans coming up next weekend. According to latest NFL trends, the Falcons are 0-4 against the spread in their last four games against the Colts so take the points.
2011 NFL WEEK 9 FREE PICK: INDIANAPOLIS COLTS +7
The Chiefs are red-hot after winning four in a row and now get to host a winless Miami team just looking to finish out the rest of the schedule. So take Kansas City and lay the points right? That’s not the way we see it. The Chiefs are coming off back-to-back games against divisional opponents and have to face another AFC West rival next week when they host the Broncos. They also don’t generate a lot of firepower offensively so this is the perfect opportunity to take a Dolphins squad that proved last week in New York that it hasn’t given up despite its rough circumstances. While Miami is 20-6 against the spread in its last 26 road games versus a team with a winning home record, Kansas City is just 4-12-1 ATS in its last 17 games as a favorite.
2011 NFL WEEK 9 FREE PICK: MIAMI DOLPHINS +4
The Bills have been unbeatable at home and given the Jets’ inconsistency issues this season, this a prime spot to take Buffalo and not have to lay many points. The Bills’ defense is steadily improving and should hold Mark Sanchez and Co. in check this Sunday. The Bills are 5-0-1 against the spread in their last six November games and 6-2-1 ATS in their last nine home games. The Jets, meanwhile, are 0-4 ATS in their lat four road games and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 road games versus a team with a winning home record.
2011 NFL WEEK 9 FREE PICK: BUFFALO BILLS –1
The line in this game would appear to be an overreaction to the Chargers’ loss to the Chiefs on Monday night. Had San Diego won, the Bolts would have likely been 3-point home underdogs against the Packers instead of 5.5. Green Bay has showed signs of cracking the past couple of weeks. They didn’t play well in the first half against the Falcons in Week 5, didn’t play well in the second half against the Rams in Week 6 and didn’t play well in the second half against the Vikings in Week 7. The Chargers should be up for this game and don’t be surprised if they win outright.
2011 NFL WEEK 9 FREE PICK: SAN DIEGO CHARGERS +5.5
