NFL Week 15 Free Picks

(The Spread) – A trio of underdogs caught our attention for Week 15 as we hand out our free picks for this Sunday’s NFL action.

Following back-to-back successful weeks in which we went 4-0 in Week 12 and 3-1 in Week 13, we stumbled last Sunday with our free picks. The Panthers choked away a 23-7 lead at home against the Falcons while neither the Bucs nor the Raiders showed up in their respective games. The Chargers were our lone winner of the week, as our 1-3 finish dropped our season record to 27-28-1.

Saints vs. Vikings, 1:00PM ET

The Saints are just 4-3 on the road this year and generally play things more conservatively than they do at home. But after the Falcons crushed the Jaguars on Thursday night, New Orleans needs to stay more than a game ahead of Atlanta in the NFC South with the two teams big showdown coming up next week at the Superdome. Thus, look for the Saints to come out and take care of business against an inferior Minnesota team. Even with Adrian Peterson back in the lineup for the Vikings, Minnesota’s secondary is atrocious and will get eaten alive by Drew Brees and the Saints. The Vikings just won’t be able to keep pace.

NFL WEEK 15 FREE PICK: NEW ORLEANS SAINTS –9

Jets vs. Eagles, 4:15PM ET

If the playoffs were to start today the Jets would be the sixth and final seed in the AFC. But they don’t start today, meaning that Rex Ryan’s team must keep teams like Tennessee, Cincinnati and San Diego at bay. The only way to do that is by winning, which is something the Jets have done since their heartbreaking 17-13 loss to the Broncos in Denver in mid-November. Very quietly Gang Green has won three in a row and it appears as though the Jets running game is starting to find its groove. Look for Ryan’s defense to give Michael Vick all sorts of problems as the Jets win outright.

NFL WEEK 15 FREE PICK: NEW YORK JETS +3

Panthers vs. Texans, 1:00PM ET

The Panthers burned us last Sunday but that’s no reason not to take them this week, especially considering how much value you’re getting with them. By this point, nobody should doubt Houston’s resolve, as the Texans continue to win despite suffering through a multitude of injuries on both sides of the ball. That said, six points is a lot to lay against a Carolina team that has generally kept things close week in and week out. According to latest NFL trends, the Panthers are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games after allowing more than 30 points in their previous games and they’re 15-6 ATS in their last 21 December contests.

NFL WEEK 15 FREE PICK: CAROLINA PANTHERS +6

Seahawks vs. Bears, 1:00PM ET

For all intents and purposes, the Hawks have been a pretty bad road team over the years. But despite their 6-7 record they still have an outside shot of sneaking into the playoffs thanks to their recent hot play. The Bears still have an opportunity to claim one of the final two Wild Card spots as well, but they’re a complete mess right now with Caleb Hanie under center. The Seahawks are 4-0 against the spread in their last four games as an underdog and 7-1 ATS in their last eight games versus the NFC. The hook makes Seattle an attractive play.

NFL WEEK 15 FREE PICK: SEATTLE SEAHAWKS +3.5
