NFL Week 13 Free Picks
(The Spread) – A trio of underdogs and one favorite caught our attention this week in our Week 13 free picks for Sunday’s NFL action.
We swept the board last week in the NFL as the Falcons, Browns, Panthers and Broncos all covered. That improved our record to 23-24-1 on the year and gives us a chance to get back over .500 (with a strong Week 13, of course) for the first time since the first couple of weeks of the season.
Raiders vs. Dolphins, 1:00PM ET
Miami has looked like a completely different team since it dropped its first seven games of the season. They’ve won three of their last four and their defense has played outstanding football during that stretch. Guys like Matt Moore and Reggie Bush have also stepped up offensively and even at 3-8 it’s clear that the Dolphins will keep fighting. On the other side, the Raiders have won three in a row but they could be without middle linebacker Rolando McClain, who was arrested earlier this week following a shooting incident. At some point all of these injuries or in McClain’s case, incidents, are going to catch up with the Raiders. And considering Oakland is just 3-7 against the spread in its last 10 games against Miami, this could be the week the Raiders fall.
NFL WEEK 13 FREE PICK: MIAMI DOLPHINS –3
With Tyler Palko under center the Chiefs are severely limited offensively but seven points is a lot with Caleb Hanie under center for Chicago. Hanie changes the Bears’ entire offense and if Mike Martz doesn’t start designing plays and schemes that focus on Matt Forte and takes the pressure off of his quarterback then Chicago will continue to struggle. According to latest NFL trends the Chiefs are 6-1 against the spread in their last seven games as an underdog and 11-5 ATS in their last 16 games as a road dog. The Bears, meanwhile, are 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 December games and 0-4 ATS in their last four games in Week 13.
NFL WEEK 13 FREE PICK: KANSAS CITY CHIEFS +7
The Jets are just 1-5 against the spread in their last six road games and 1-4 ATS in their last five games as a favorite. They’re also 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games in December and 1-4 ATS in their last five games as a favorite of between 0.5 and 3.0 points. The Redskins have been more competitive since Rex Grossman acquired his starting job back from John Beck and rookie running back Roy Helu has given Washington’s offense a nice spark. I just don’t trust Mark Sanchez, even after he threw four touchdown passes last Sunday. It’s doubtful that his performance last week cured his lack of confidence.
NFL WEEK 13 FREE PICK: WASHINGTON REDSKINS +1
Cowboys vs. Cardinals, 4:15PM ET
The home team is 4-1 against the spread in the last five meetings between these two teams while the Cardinals are 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall. The Cowboys, meanwhile, are just 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven games versus the NFC and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall. The Cowboys have a habit of stumbling when the attention shifts to them and seeing as how they’re now leading the NFC East by one game over the Giants, Dallas is definitely in the spotlight. Look for this game to be much closer than most people think.
NFL WEEK 13 FREE PICK: ARIZONA CARDIANLS +4.5
