The Patriots are 14-2 on the season and a perfect 8-0 at home while the Jets are 12-5 on the season and 7-2 on the road. New England won the AFC East to get the top seed in the playoffs while the Jets won at Indianapolis last week in the wildcard round of the playoffs. Trends show that the home team has covered the spread in the last 4 games played between these two teams while the Jets are just 5-11-1 ATS in their last 17 games against the Patriots.

Oddsmakers from online sportsbook SBGGLOBAL.com have given the Patriots point spread odds of -9.5 against the Jets. The over/under total has been set at 44 points. (View Matchup)

Opening odds had the Patriots favored by 9 points and the spread held strong all week before adding the hook just prior to closing. The over/under total opened at 45.5 points and that slowly worked its way down to 44 points before closing.

The Patriots are 10-5-1 against the point spread odds this season and have went over the point total in 13 of 16 games. New England has been on a tear as of late, winning their last eight games by an average of over 20 points per game, which includes a 45-3 win over the Jets at home on Dec. 6. New England averages 32.4 points per game on offense while the defense allows just 19.6 points per game. Tom Brady is likely the NFL MVP this season as he has thrown for 3,900 yards and 36 touchdowns with just four interceptions.

The Jets are 10-7 against the point spread odds this year and they have went over the point total in 12 of 17 games. The Jets have won their last two games including a 17-16 win over the Colts last week. New York does hold a 28-14 win over the Patriots this year, but that took place in week 2. The Jets are averaging 22.9 points per game on offense while allowing 19 points per game on defense. Mark Sanchez has led the team with 3,291 yards passing and 17 touchdowns.

In terms of injuries, New York defensive back James Ihedigbo is questionable with a knee injury while tackle Damien Woody was placed on injured reserve after injuring his Achilles last week. For New England, defensive tackle Myron Pryor is doubtful because of a back injury.

Over 65,200 public bets have been placed on this game with the Patriots getting 59% of the wagers with a point spread of -9.5 against the Jets on Sunday.
