2011 NFL Betting Preview: Jets vs. Raiders Free Pick & Predictions

Jets vs. Raiders Preview

(The Spread) – Looking for there third victory in as many games, the Jets will take on the Raiders in Oakland today at 4:05PM ET.

NFL Odds: Oddsmakers have installed the host Oakland Raiders as 3.5-point favorites versus the visiting New York Jets, while the over/under total for this contest is currently sitting at 41 points. The Raiders are 1-1 on the year after beating the Broncos in Denver on Monday Night Football in Week 1, and following a disappointing loss to the Bills last Sunday. (Oakland held a 2-1 lead at one point in that game.)

Line Movement: The Raiders opened as 3.5-point home dogs and immediately jumped to 4-point dogs within a few hours of the line being released. But some mid-week action on Oakland dropped the line back down to 3.5 and even 3 at one point before climbing back up and settling at 3.5. The over/under total hasn’t budged since opening at 41.

NFL Week 3 Free Pick: Take Oakland. According to latest NFL trends, the home team is 4-1-1 against the spread in the last six meetings between these two teams, which suits an Oakland team that is 4-1 against the spread in its last five games versus the AFC. The Raiders are also 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games as an underdog. The Jets, meanwhile, are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games following an ATS win and will have to travel cross-country for their first road game of the season. Oakland is better and has an explosive weapon in running back Darren McFadden. The Raiders should keep this game within a field goal.
