Public Favors Steelers
Pittsburgh, PA (The Spread) – While public bettors favor the Pittsburgh Steelers over the New York Jets in Sunday’s AFC Conference Championship Game, it’s not by a wide margin. Does the public potentially see another Jet upset on the horizon?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com, the Steelers are 3.5-point favorites over the Jets on Sunday. The over/under total for this game is currently 38.5 points.
Per latest NFL public betting information, 56% of the 43,000-plus wagers on Sunday’s game have been placed on the Steelers –3.5. For comparison sake, 66% of the 43,000-plus wagers on the NFC Championship Game are on the Packers –3.5.
Led by safety Troy Polamalu, the Steelers own one of the league’s top defenses, although Rex Ryan’s Jets are certainly in the discussion. After the way New York held Peyton Manning and Tom Brady in check the last two weeks, some bettors think the Jets are poised for another upset thanks to their defense.
That said, don’t be surprised if the line goes up to –4 by kickoff. The spread has already gotten as high as 4 earlier in the week and if the public sells themselves on a Pittsburgh romp, then the line could get that high again.
According to latest NFL trends, the Jets are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games against Pittsburgh, while the under is 5-2 in the last seven meetings between these two teams. The Steelers are 9-0 against the spread in their last nine games in January and 5-0 ATS in their last five home playoff games. They’re also 8-1 ATS in their last nine playoff games overall.
Kickoff for Sunday’s AFC Championship Game is set for 6:30PM ET. The winner will host either the Packers or Bears in the 2011 Super Bowl, which will take place in Dallas, Texas.
