CHARLOTTE, NC (TheSpread) – Two of the worst in the NFL this season meet on Sunday when the Carolina Panthers host the Arizona Cardinals at 1PM ET.
The Cardinals are 4-9 on the season and 1-5 in road games while the Panthers are a league-worst 1-12 overall and 1-6 at home. Trends show that Arizona is 4-1 against the spread in their last 5 games in Carolina while the road team has covered the spread in the last five games between these two teams.

Opening odds have not changed since the spread started at Carolina -2.5 points. The over/under opened at 38 points and dipped to 37.5 before returning back to 38.
Arizona is 4-9 against the spread this season and the Cardinals have hit the over in 8 of 13 games. The Cardinals ended a 7-game losing streak last week with a 43-13 win over Denver. John Skelton made his first start for Arizona and was 15-of-37 for 146 yards and didn’t have a touchdown or interception. The Cardinals had a touchdown on defense and special teams to aid in the win while the defense also forced six turnovers. On the season, Arizona is scoring just 18.7 points per game while allowing 27 points per game.
Carolina is 3-10 against the spread this year and the Panthers have hit the under in 7 of 13 games. Carolina has lost seven straight games on the year, being held to less than 17 points in all but one of the losses. The Panthers are scoring just 12.6 points per game on offense and allowing 26 points per game. The team did get a boost two weeks ago as Jonathan Stewart returned from a lengthy injury. Stewart has rushed for over 90 yards in the last two games and now has 531 yards on the season.
In terms of injuries, Arizona quarterback Derek Anderson is doubtful with a head injury while Carolina linebacker James Anderson is probable despite an ankle injury.
Over 7,100 public bets have been placed on the game with the Cardinals getting 68% of the wagers with a spread of +2.5 against Carolina.
