DETROIT, MI (TheSpread) – The Detroit Lions are down to their third-string quarterback on Sunday as they host the Chicago Bears at 1PM ET.

Detroit is 2-9 on the season and 2-3 at home while Chicago is 8-3 on the year and 4-1 on the road. Trends show that the road team has covered the spread in the last six meetings between these two teams while the over has hit in 7 of the last 11 meetings between the two.

Opening odds had the Bears favored by 3 points but the spread jumped up to 5 points before the end of the week. The over/under total opened at 44.5 and has since fallen back to 43.

The Lions have lost four straight games and now Detroit will have to start Drew Stanton for the game at quarterback as Matthew Stafford and Shaun Hill are both out with injuries. Stanton has thrown for 233 yards and one touchdown with one interception on the year in three games of action. The Lions average 23.5 points per game on offense, but the defense is allowing 25.6 points per game.

The Bears have won four straight games heading into this week. Last week Chicago put a stop to the Eagles’ winning streak at home and on the year, Chicago is averaging 20.2 points per game while giving up just 15.6 points per game. Jay Cutler has thrown for 2,311 yards and 16 touchdowns with just 10 interceptions on the season.

In terms of injuries, Chicago tight end Desmond Clark is questionable for Sunday’s game with a neck injury while Detroit defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch is doubtful with a neck injury.

Over 17,600 public bets have been placed on this game and Chicago is getting 78% of the wagers at -5 against Detroit on Sunday.
