Texans vs. Rams Prediction
The Los Angeles Rams are one of the best surprises in 2017 but will they cover the point spread as a double-digit home favorite today against a banged-up Houston Texans squad at 4:05 p.m. ET?
Who Oddsmakers Like: Los Angeles. According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Rams are 12.5-point home favorites versus the Texans, who opened as 10-point road underdog when the lines were first released. As for the total, the number currently sits at 45.5 points after opening at 47.
Who the Public Likes: Los Angeles. As of Sunday morning, nearly 70% of the tickets were on the Rams to cover the spread this afternoon.
Who the Trends Like: The Texans are 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games overall but the Rams have covered the number in four of their last five games. Of course, Houston was 5-1 against the spread when Deshaun Watson was under center and failed to cover as a home favorite last Sunday against the Colts without him.
Who We Like: Los Angeles. I just can't back Tom Savage, who completed 19-of-44 pass attempts in that 20-14 loss at home to the Colts. The Rams could get caught reading their press clippings but if they're focused, then they should roll today.
Houston surrendered 303 yards passing to Jacoby Brissett last week. What is Jared Goff and Sean McVay's explosive offense going to do to the Texans today?
The Texans are 0-10 against the spread following a division home game when facing .500 or greater opponents coming off a road game. The Rams, meanwhile, are 6-1 at the betting window in their last seven games versus AFC South opponents. I don't love the Rams as a double-digit home favorite but they certainly look the part and again, I just don't trust Savage to keep the banged-up Texans in the game today.
