LOS ANGELES (AP) – Southern California left tackle Matt Kalil says he will skip his senior season to enter the NFL draft.
Kalil will leave the bowl-banned and fifth-ranked Trojans after allowing no sacks and emerging as a standout run blocker in his junior season, according to USC’s official website and the Los Angeles Times.
Kalil was named to the AP’s All-America first team earlier this week.
The younger brother of Carolina Panthers center Ryan Kalil is a two-year starter at left tackle for the Trojans.
The 6-foot-7 Kalil also excelled on special teams, blocking several kicks.
Kalil is widely projected as a top-5 pick in the 2012 draft.
USC quarterback Matt Barkley still hasn’t announced whether he will bypass his senior season, but Kalil had said he was likely to follow Barkley’s lead on the decision.
