Texas A&M vs. Miss State Prediction
Is Mississippi State a good underdog play today when it hosts Texas A&M at 12:00PM ET?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Aggies are now 14-point road favorites versus the Bulldogs after opening as a 14-point favorite. As for the total, the number opened at 60.5 and has been bet up to 62.5, which is where the over/under currently sits.
Trevor Knight continues to be a solid quarterback for the Aggies and is one of five FBS players with at least 1,500 yards passing and 500 yards rushing this season. A&M is also one of three FBS teams that rank in the top 20 in offensive, defensive and special teams efficiency according to ESPN.com. Michigan and Washington are the others.
Despite the Bulldogs’ issues this season, their signal-caller is also having a solid season as well. Nick Fitzgerald is four passing yards away from joining the list with Knight, as he sits with 1,496 passing yards and 657 rushing yards this season. That said, if Fitzgerald and Mississippi State doesn’t pick up its play, the Bulldogs are in danger of having their six-year bowl streak snapped.
OUR PREDICTION: Texas A&M should leave Starkville with a victory but the Aggies haven’t been kind to backers at the betting window of late. They’re winless at 0-4 against the spread in their last four games overall and have failed to cover in four of their last five road games as well. They’re just 8-20 against the spread in their last 28 conference games, while the Bulldogs are 18-5 ATS in their last 23 home games versus a team with a winning road record. A&M wins, but take the points with the home dog.
