The Ducks are in their first meeting with the Lobos, but Oregon is on a 30-2 run at home against non-conference opponents and 15-1 in home openers.

Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com currently list Oregon as 34-point favorites at home against New Mexico. The over/under for the game has been set at 55.

The Ducks had a rough offseason as head coach Chip Kelly booted Jeremiah Masoli off the team. Masoli rushed for 668 yards and 13 scores while passing for 2,147 yards and 15 scores. Replacing him will be Darron Thomas, a sophomore that saw limited time as a freshman. Thomas has nine starters back on offense. The Ducks posted 36.1 points and 412 yards per-game last season, including 232 yards on the ground per-game. LaMichael James rushed for 1,546 yards and 14 scores last season as a freshman. On defense, Oregon had its struggles, allowing 23.8 points and 336 yards per-game. The Ducks have eight starters back, including eight of its leading nine tacklers back.

New Mexico went 1-11 last season under new coach Mike Locksley. The Lobos return just 12 starters, but replace their quarterback. The Lobos averaged just 16.3 points and 315 yards per-game on offense. On defense, New Mexico allowed 35.9 points and 419 yards per-game in 2009. With six starters back, the Lobos need to improve on a -6 turnover ratio from a year ago.
