Will the Fighting Irish limit Will Howard’s passing yards in Monday night’s College Football Playoff National Championship Game? Will Riley Leonard impact the Buckeyes with his legs? Read on for our Ohio State vs. Notre Dame Same Game Parlay prediction.

Ohio State vs. Notre Dame Same Game Parlay: Will Howard under 241.5 Passing Yards

The total for tonight’s national championship game sits at 45.5. While the spread and over/under aren’t the end-all-be-all when it comes to betting player props, they at least give us an idea of how oddsmakers believe the game will unfold. A total of just 45.5 is a strong indication that oddsmakers believe this game will be lower-scoring.

If we look at previous games involving Ohio State when the total was around 45.5, we’ll see a common trend. When the Buckeyes at Michigan State in Week 5, the total for that game was 48.5. Howard threw for 244 yards in that game. The following week when the Buckeyes hosted Iowa and the total was 46, Howard threw for only 209 yards.

Fast forward to Week 9 when the Buckeyes hosted Nebraska with a total of 48.5 and you’ll see Howard threw for 221 yards. At Penn State the following Saturday, Howard threw for 182 yards when the over/under was 47 at kickoff. While he did throw for 247 yards at Northwestern (43.5 total), Howard finished with just 175 passing yards against Michigan in Ohio State’s regular season finale when the total was 41.5.

Howard has been tremendous this postseason. He threw for 311 yards against Tennessee in the first round and 319 yards versus Oregon in the quarterfinals. In the semis versus Texas, Howard had 289 passing yards. The 244.5 passing yards that he faces tonight isn’t a high hurdle. However, Howard will play one of the more talented defensive backfields that he’s faced all season.

Ohio State vs. Notre Dame Same Game Parlay: Riley Leonard over 36.5 Rushing Yards

Leonard isn’t the passer that Howard is but he can move. I am concerned with Leonard facing Ohio State’s outstanding defensive line, but that’s even more reason to believe he’ll be on the move a lot tonight.

Leonard rushed for 35 yards against Penn State in the semi-finals and 30 yards versus Indiana in Notre Dame’s playoff opener. The game that motivated me to take the over on Leonard’s rushing yards, however, was the 23-10 victory over Georgia in the quarterfinals. In that game, he rushed 14 times for 80 yards. Why is that important? Because the Bulldogs also have an excellent front seven. They’re active, physical and fast, just like the Buckeyes.

Thus, if Leonard can run for 80 yards versus UGA, I strongly believe he can rush for less than half of that tonight against Ohio State.

Ohio State vs. Notre Dame Same Game Parlay: TreVeyon Henderson over 83.5 Rush + Receiving

If you just looked at Henderson’s rushing yards against Texas, you would have thought the Longhorns bottled him up. However, he only had six carries in the game. Thus, his 42 yards rushing went for 7.0 yards per clip, which is impressive. He also caught a screen pass right before halftime that he took 75 yards to the house, giving him over 100 yards total in the game.

Henderson has not finished with fewer than 100 total yards in any game this postseason. In those three games, he also has a 75-yard reception (vs. Texas), a 66-yard run (vs. Oregon) and a 29-yard run (vs. Tennessee). Notre Dame has a fierce defense, but Henderson is capable of breaking off a long run at any point in a game.

3-Leg Same Game Parlay Odds: +485 (Fanduel Sportsbook)
