Navy keeps on winning
The Navy Midshipmen are riding a five-game winning streak following a 56-10 win at Connecticut two weeks ago. Navy is now 7-1 on the season, 6-2 against the spread and 5-3 with the over.
Navy has been led this season by its physical run game. The Midshipmen are averaging a nation-best 358.2 yards per game on the ground, which has led to 40.1 points and 457.1 yards per game. Defensively, Navy is giving up 18.1 points and 310.9 yards per contest. Malcolm Perry has rushed for 1,042 yards and 16 touchdowns while throwing for 722 yards and five scores. Nelson Smith has added 505 rushing yards and seven scores while Jamale Carothers has 355 yards rushing with eight touchdowns. The Navy defense is led by Jacob Springer, who has 41 tackles and seven sacks.
Irish roll over Duke
Notre Dame is riding back-to-back wins over Virginia Tech and Duke, including a 38-7 win at Duke last weekend. The win moves the Fighting Irish to 7-2 on the season, 5-4 against the spread and 6-3 with the under.
The Fighting Irish have a pretty sound defense, allowing just 19.2 points and 329.1 yards per game. Offensively, Notre Dame is putting up 34.2 points and 424.4 yards per contest. Ian Book is leading the team with 2,009 passing yards and 21 touchdowns while also rushing for 390 yards and four scores. Tony Jones Jr. is the leading rusher with 585 yards and four scores, but is dealing with a rib injury. He is still expected to paly this weekend. Chase Claypool is the team’s leading receiver with 42 catches for 651 yards and five touchdowns.
College Football Betting Trends
Navy
The Midshipmen have hit the over in four of their last five road games and in 19 of their last 26 games in November.
Notre Dame
The Fighting Irish have hit the under in four straight games in November and in four of their last five non-conference games.
Prediction:
These two have hit the over in seven of their last nine meetings, including last year’s 44-22 win for Notre Dame. Nobody has been able to stop the Navy triple option this year, as the Midshipmen have scored at least 34 points in all but one game. Their only struggle was at Memphis, where they had just 23 points. Notre Dame is a team that has seen this triple option enough to be ready for it. It shouldn’t catch the Irish off guard. The ND defense has held up most of this season and I think it will keep Navy well below its average. I also don’t expect a lot from the ND offense, as Navy’s defense can match their physicality up front. I look for a real grind on Saturday.
