Miami 2011 Season Odds
(The Spread) – The Miami Hurricanes have a new head coach in Al Golden for the 2011 College Football Season. Can he lead the Hurricanes to gold in his first season?
Golden comes to Miami from Temple, where he amasses a 27-34 record with the Owls. Miami let go of Randy Shannon after going 7-6 last season. It was his third-straight season with at least seven wins, but Miami is looking to compete on a national level.
According to oddsmakers from Bodog, Miami has 60/1 odds to win the 2012 BCS National Championship and 9/2 odds to win the ACC Championship. The Canes also have 3/2 odds to win the ACC Coastal Division. The over/under win total for Miami has been set at 8.

Miami has won five national championships in football, the last of which came in 2001. Miami also owns nine conference titles, but has never won the ACC. Miami’s last conference title came in 2003, as part of the Big East.
This season, Miami brings back 14 starters, led by senior quarterback Jacory Harris. Harris had some injury issues last season and struggled to just 1,793 yards passing with 14 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. However, in 2009, Harris threw for 3,352 yards and 24 scores.
On defense, Miami brings back seven starters, including five of its front seven. Sean Spence was a first team All-ACC pick in 2010 after totaling 111 tackles with 14.5 tackles for loss at linebacker. The Miami defense averaged just 151 passing yards allowed per game, but didn’t force many turnovers, as Miami had a turnover differential of -8.
Miami has won eight games five times in the last 10 seasons, but this season features some tough games for Golden, including a home game with Ohio State on Sept. 17. The Hurricanes will also head to Virginia Tech and Florida State during conference play.
In terms of the spread, Miami was just 5-8 against the spread in 2010 and has been 52-70 against the spread over the last 10 seasons. The Hurricanes leaned toward the under last season as well, hitting it in 7 of 13 lined games. Miami hit the over in both games it played on turf in 2010.
