Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Crimson Tide are 14-point favorites to beat the Tigers. The total, meanwhile, sits at 52.5 points. As of this writing, 55% of the public betting tickets wagered on this matchup are on the Tigers.
LSU HC Ed Orgeron declared redshirt junior DT Breiden Fehoko (undisclosed) healthy for Saturday’s contest against Alabama. Fehoko was questionable for the October 20 game against Mississippi State, and while he was announced as a starter, Orgeron held him out for what appears to be precautionary reasons. He should be 100 percent for Saturday’s monster game against Alabama, and he’ll be tasked with helping stock the Crimson Tide run game.
Alabama Crimson Tide
In the first release of the College Football Playoff rankings, Alabama, Clemson, LSU and Notre Dame were ranked Nos. 1-4, respectively. Those first four seeds, of course, will be earmarked for our four Playoff combatants when the final rankings are released in a little over a month. For now, just view the rankings as a sort of guidepost for who is in serious contention for those spots. Michigan came in at No. 5 in this release, followed by Georgia, Oklahoma, Washington State, Kentucky and Ohio State. Washington State and Kentucky are the most interesting names in the top-10 beyond the accustomed. Undefeated UCF currently ranks No. 12. We could be in for a shakeup in the top-four after this coming weekend, as Alabama will be traveling to Death Valley to face LSU. Should the Tide lose to the Tigers, we wouldn’t necessarily expect them to drop a substantial amount, but should LSU fall in defeat and Michigan handle itself against Penn State, UM should have a fantastic chance to jump into the upper-echelon fray.
The Crimson Tide have covered the spread in 15 of their last 22 road games.
The Tigers are 11-4 against the spread in their last 15 games overall and are 7-3 against the number in their last 10 home games.
Alabama has dominated this matchup both on the field and at the betting window. The Tide are 9-3 against the spread in their last 12 games played in Baton Rouge and are 4-1 against the number in their last five games versus the Tigers overall. The road team is also a profitable 16-6-1 ATS in the last 23 meetings between these two teams. This is the best offense that Nick Saban has had at Alabama and while LSU has already pulled off upsets against Miami, Auburn and Georgia this year, the Tigers will be without stud linebacker Devin White for the first half due to a targeting suspension. That should give Alabama enough room to build a lead in the first half and once that becomes insurmountable, LSU is in trouble because it doesn’t have the passing game to hang. One of the biggest issues for the Tigers this season has also been settling for field goals and if that issue pops up again tonight ‘Bama could roll.
