MAC meets CUSA in Boca Raton Bowl
BOCA RATON, FL (The Spread) – Two of the nation’s best non-power conference teams meet up in the Boca Raton Bowl today as Northern Illinois faces Marshall at 6PM ET.

Marshall nearly went unbeaten this year, as the Herd put up a 12-1 record, with its lone loss coming in overtime to Western Kentucky, 67-66. The Herd went 7-1 in Conference USA, winning the league title. Marshall was 8-5 against the spread on the year and hit the over in 7 of 13 games. Despite the great year, Marshall has failed to cover in its last three games.
Northern Illinois won its last seven games of the season to claim another MAC Championship. The Huskies are 11-2 overall and they went 7-1 in conference play. NIU was 7-6 against the spread this season and it hit the under nine times during the year. The Huskies have covered the spread in their last three games.

This game features one of the best offenses in the country in Marshall and a solid offense in NIU. The Huskies average 442.5 yards per game through a balanced attack, but Marshall posts 563.4 yards per game, averaging over 275 yards per game passing and rushing. Devon Johnson has rushed for 1,636 yards and 16 touchdowns to lead Marshall’s offense while Rakeem Cato has thrown for 3,622 yards and 37 scores. Both will pose problems for NIU.
