Vanderbilt vs. Florida Prediction
Will Vanderbilt rebound from its ugly loss to Alabama last week to at least cover as an underdog today versus Florida?
Who: Vanderbilt (3-1) at Florida (2-1)
When: 12:00PM ET, Saturday, September 30
Where: Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, Gainesville, FL
Current Point Spread & Over/Under Total
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Gators are 9-point home favorites to knock off the Commodores, who opened as 7-point underdogs. As for the total, the number hit the board at 43 points but was bet down to 40.5.
Vanderbilt Betting Trends
The Commodores are 8-3 against the spread in their last 11 games coming off a loss. They’re also 14-6 at the betting window in their last 20 road games versus a team with a winning home record. That said, in their last seven games coming off a double-digit loss at home, they’re just 2-5 against the number in their next game.
Florida Betting Trends
The Gators have been horrible to bettors, failing to cover in five of their last six games overall. They’re also 2-8-1 at the betting window in their last 11 home games. Finally, the Gators are just 1-4-1 against the spread in their last six conference games and winless at 0-5 against the number in their last five games played in the month of September.
OUR PREDICTION: At one point this line was all the way up to 10 points, but it has settled in at nine. I think it’s too many. Vanderbilt was waxed a week ago by Alabama but Derek Mason’s team is reliant. Florida continues to have questions at quarterback, as Jim McElwain is going back to Luke Del Rio. The Commodores rank 32nd in the nation in total yards allowed, are second in passing yards allowed, and are 26th in points. Vandy will keep things close defensively.
