South Florida Bulls
South Florida redshirt junior QB Blake Barnett completed 29-of-49 passes for 332 yards with one interception in Saturday’s 41-15 loss to Tulane. South Florida got demolished by the previously 3-5 Tulane Green Wave. After a sluggish start, the Bulls were down 27-3, which led to a career-high 49 pass attempts for Barnett. If it weren’t for garbage time passing yards, Barnett’s passing line would have looked a lot worse. With back-to-back losses, South Florida won’t be anywhere near the top-25 again this season, but the Bulls will look to get back in the win column versus Cincy next week.
Cincinnati Bearcats
Cincinnati redshirt freshman QB Desmond Ridder completed 13-of-17 passes for 178 yards with a touchdown and rushed for 66 yards with a score in a 42-0 throttling of Navy on Saturday. This would have been a huge game for Ridder if this game was remotely competitive. It wasn’t. Still, Ridder was able to get his 13th passing touchdown of the year, and the rushing touchdown gives him six on the season. The Bearcats are one of the best stories in college football, and improve to 8-1 on the year. A matchup with USF comes next Saturday.
Betting Trends
South Florida
The Bulls are 0-5 against the spread in their last five conference games and 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall.
Cincinnati
The Bearcats are just 5-14 against the spread in their last 19 home games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games following a win.
Prediction
South Florida has proved to be overrated following its seven consecutive wins to start the season. After getting fat and happy with wins over Elon, Georgia Tech, Illinois, ECU, Massachusetts, Tulsa and UConn, the Bulls were drubbed by Houston and then got smoked by Tulane as a 6-point home favorite last week. Thus, against conference foes with a pulse, USF has looked terrible. I’m laying the points with Cincinnati.
