Arizona opened the season at home and picked up a 42-32 win over Texas-San Antonio. The Wildcats were listed as a 32.5-point favorite for the game, but they did manage to hit the over of 59 points. Nevada started the season with a 31-17 win over UC-Davis. The Wolf Pack failed to cover a 23.5-point spread in the win and they also went under the 59.5-point total. The game was pretty evenly matched as Nevada only had a 395-327 yards advantage in total offense, but the key was 232 rushing yards for the Wolf Pack. Don Jackson led the ground game with 124 yards and two touchdowns while quarterback Tyler Stewart had 163 passing yards and one score to go along with 43 rushing yards and one touchdown.
