According to oddsmakers from Bodog, Wisconsin is the favorite to win the Big Ten with odds of 8/5. Other short odds to win are Nebraska (2/1), Ohio State (5/1), and Michigan State and Penn State each have 7/1 odds.
Wisconsin has won the conference championship 12 times, with the last coming in 2010, when it shared the title with the Buckeyes and Spartans. Wisconsin was 11-2 last year and 7-1 in the Big Ten. The Badgers return an explosive offense that just added Russell Wilson, the N.C. State quarterback that transferred over to Wisconsin. Because Wilson graduated, he is eligible to play immediately for Wisconsin, and will compliment their explosive core of running backs.
Nebraska is playing in the Big Ten for the first time in franchise history this year. The Cornhuskers won the Big 12 North last year with a 6-2 conference record and a 10-4 overall record. Nebraska has one of the top defenses in the country year-in and year-out and their physical style should translate well to the Big Ten.
Ohio State won a share of the Big Ten last year, but recently vacated all their wins. The Buckeyes have won 35 conference titles in the history of the program, but they have a very new roster and a new coach as Jim Tressel stepped down and Terrelle Pryor left the program.
Michigan State won a share of the Big Ten last year, its first title since 1987. The Spartans were 11-2 overall and 7-1 in conference play.
Penn State last won the Big Ten in 2008, but the Nittany Lions were just 7-6 overall and 4-4 in conference play last season.
