(The Spread) β The Big East Conference may be lacking in national powers, but the conference should still be competitive. Here is a look at the odds to win this yearβs championship.

According to oddsmakers from Bodog, West Virginia is the favorite to win the Big East with 7/4 odds. Other Short odds to win are South Florida (5/2), Cincinnati (5/1), and Pittsburgh (5/1).
The Mountaineers have won six Big East Championships. The last came in 2010 when WVU went 9-3 overall and 5-2 in conference play. West Virginia is dealing with a coaching change as Dana Holgorson is taking over for Bill Stewart. But, Holgorsen is taking over a team that held opponents to just 251.3 yards per game.
South Florida has never won the Big East Championship and never finished better than third in the conference. The Bulls went 8-5 last season and 3-4 in conference play. The Bulls have struggled offensively in the past, averaging just 162.5 passing yards per game in 2010.
Cincinnati has won 11 conference titles in program history, the last of which came in 2009. Last season, the Bearcats were 4-8 overall and 2-5 in Big East play under first-year coach, Butch Jones. The Cincinnati offense produced 417 yards per game but gave up 369.4 yards per game on defense.
Pittsburgh has won two conference titles in program history. The Panthers shared the Big East title last year, but still got rid of coach Dave Wannstedt. Pitt originally hired former Miami (Ohio) coach Mike Haywood to take over, but an arrest shortly after his hiring caused Pitt to let him go. Todd Graham is now taking over in his first season. Last year, Pitt was 5-2 in the Big East and 8-5 overall. The Panthers were a strong defensive unit, holding opponents to just 304 yards per game.
