After a scare last week on the road, No. 11 LSU opens SEC play on Saturday night at 7PM ET when the Tigers host Vanderbilt at Tiger Stadium.
The Tigers were outgained 478-321 in total yardage in a 31-23 win at
Vanderbilt dominated Western Carolina 45-0 last week and the Commodores are coming off a 7-6 2008 season. Bobby Johnson is in his eighth year as coach at Vanderbilt and the Commodores are hoping to improve on last season’s offense that averaged just 19.2 points per-game. Last Saturday, Vanderbilt totaled 620 yards of offense with Warren Norman and Zac Stacy each rushing for over 100 yards. Quarterback Larry Smith had 153 yards passing with a touchdown before leaving in the second half with cramps. Smith will be able to play on Saturday.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have made LSU 14.5-point home favorites over Vanderbilt on Saturday night. The over/under total for this game has been established at 45.
