The Crimson Tide defeated Virginia Tech 34-24 last Saturday thanks to a dominant defensive performance as

Alabama
held the Hokies to 155 yards of total offense.

Alabama
had two turnovers and five sacks in the win, but allowed three lengthy touchdowns on botched plays and poor special teams coverage. Offensively, the Crimson Tide was led by Mark Ingram who rushed for 150 yards and a touchdown and also caught three passes for 35 yards and a score. Quarterback Greg McElroy threw for 230 yards on 15-of-30 passing with one touchdown and one interception.

Florida International has yet to take the field this season, but is coming off a 5-7 season with third-year coach Mario Cristobal. The Panthers have lost six of their last seven road openers, but have some hopes thanks to 10 returning starters on offense this season. Leading the way for the Panthers is receiver Ty Hilton, who had 1,013 yards receiving last season with seven touchdowns. Quarterback Paul McCall is also back for FIU after throwing for 2,322 yards and 15 scores in 2008. Defensively, the Panthers bring back six starters from a unit that allowed 28.3 points per-game last season. Scott Bryant, a senior linebacker will captain the defense after picking up 89 tackles with seven tackles for loss in 2008.

Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have made Alabama 34-point home favorites over Florida International on Saturday night. The over/under total for this game has been established at 48.
