The seventh week of the 2009 NCAA Football Season had a number of shakeups in the top 25 rankings.

Boilermakers boil Buckeyes
Purdue was getting 12 points at home against No. 7 Ohio State on Saturday according to odds makers from online sportsbook SPORTSBETTING.com. 83 percent of the public bets went with Ohio State, but it was Purdue that not only covered, but won outright, 26-18. The Boilermakers had a betting line of +425, which could have made for a nice payday. Ohio State had five turnovers contribute to the loss.
Jackets sting Hokies
Virginia Tech seemed to be playing as well as anyone in the country heading into Saturday’s game with Georgia Tech. The Hokies were 3.5-point favorites on the road and had 76 percent of the public bets. But, Virginia Tech’s defense allowed Georgia Tech to rush for 309 yards as a team as the Yellowjackets picked up a 28-23 win over the Hokies. Josh Nesbitt rushed for 122 yards and three touchdowns in the win.
Trojans win, Irish cover
USC defeated Notre Dame 34-27 on Saturday thanks to a late defensive stand against the Irish inside the 10-yard line. Despite the win, USC was favored by 10 points coming into the game, so the Irish covered by three points. 56 percent of public bets went with the Trojans, who led by as much as 20 points in the fourth quarter before Notre Dame rallied.
Gators barely hang on
In a game many public betters called, Arkansas covered a 24-point spread in a 23-20 loss to Florida on Saturday. The Razorbacks had 79 percent of the public bets with such a sizeable point spread and the Arkansas defense recovered four Florida fumbles to stay in reach of a win on Saturday, but the Gators kicked a short field goal in the closing seconds to hang on for the victory.
