One of the more entertaining college basketball rivalries over the past decade-plus has been between Maryland and Duke. While Duke’s storied rivalry with North Carolina certainly reserves more attention, the number of outstanding games played by the Terrapins and the Blue Devils against each other cannot be counted on one hand let alone two.
Another chapter takes place Sunday night as Duke (14-0) hosts Maryland (10-4) at Cameron Indoor Stadium with an 8:00PM EST start. Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGlobal currently have Duke as a 15-point favorite.
The latest trends say that Duke is 3-2 against the spread versus Maryland over the past three seasons, while the score has gone under the total in four of the past five meetings.
The defending NCAA champion Blue Devils are an impressive 10-0 at home this season and the Terrapins have only played one true road game, a 62-39 win at Penn State on Dec. 1.
Maryland’s Jordan Williams scores 17.6 points per game to lead his team, while Nolan Smith paces a balanced Duke attack at 19.6 points per game.
Other top NCAA matchups Sunday include Cincinnati at Villanova, which tips off at 12:00PM EST. Villanova is slated as a -6.5 favorite. In the Big Ten, Purdue hosts Iowa at 12:00PM EST with the Boilermakers a 15-point favorite. Kansas travels to Michigan for a 4:30PM EST contest in which the Jayhawks are a 10-point favorite.
