Jones shoots 53.3 form inside the arc vs. UConn

Kam Jones recorded 22 points (9-20 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 3-8 FT), one rebound, three assists and two steals over 38 minutes during Saturday’s 77-69 loss to UConn. Jones produced one of his better scoring games against the Huskies, eclipsing 20 points for the first time in seven games. The senior guard was unable to get his three-point shots to fall, but he made up for it from the close range with a 53.3 shooting percentage from inside of the arc. Jones’ efforts could start to be reeling back from a recent-game slump, and he’ll be relied on heavily on a tough road-game tear against St. John’s on Tuesday and then Creighton next Saturday.

Richmond scores team-high vs. Friars

Kadary Richmond chipped in 24 points (10-14 FG, 2-2 3Pt, 2-3 FT), eight rebounds, eight assists and three steals over 34 minutes during Saturday’s 68-66 win over Providence. Richmond came up big in the narrow win over the Friars, leading his team in points and scoring a season-high himself. The senior guard also tacked on his best combined rebound and assist performance. He’s now at a streak of nine games in a row with two or more steals, providing defensive play that has made St. John’s team even more unstoppable. Richmond’s value for the Johnnies this year has helped elevate them to be one of the best Big East teams, and he’ll have another opportunity to continue this amazing play on Tuesday against Marquette.

Marquette vs. St. John’s CBB Prediction:

Take Marquette. Both of these teams are hot entering play today. The Red Storm are 9-1 in their last 10 games overall and are 5-4-1 ATS over that span. While Marquette lost to UConn 77-69 in its last game, the Golden Eagles are still 8-2 in their last 10 games.

The Golden Eagles have also won eight out of their last 10 meetings with the Red Storm. That includes a streak of six consecutive wins versus St. John’s in which Marquette covered in four out of those six contests.
