Butler Bulldogs Game Notes
Aaron Thompson produced six points (3-10 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 0-3 FT), one rebound, six assists and two steals in 31 minutes during Saturday’s 77-48 loss to Purdue. Thompson accounted for a majority of Butler’s 10 total assists in the loss. He recorded five in the first half, three of which came before the first media timeout. Once Purdue was able to slow down his passing, Butler suffered a five-minute scoring drought. The senior has recorded 25 assists over his last four games and will look to continue his brilliant passing against St. John’s on Thursday.
St. John’s Red Storm Game Notes
Julian Champagnie (illness) will not be available for Thursday’s game against Butler, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports. Champagnie is recovering from COVID-19. He missed last week’s game against Pittsburgh and was expected to miss the Butler game as well. The target remains a return for a Dec. 29 game against Marquette, but that should become more clear early next week. Champagnie is averaging 20.3 points and 6.7 rebounds per game this season.
