Auburn Tigers Game Notes

Tigers forward Johni Broome did not practice on Thursday and it appears unlikely that he’s going to play on Saturday. Broome suffered an ankle injury on January 11th and missed Auburn’s game against Mississippi State on Tuesday night. Broome has been one of the best players in the nation this season. He’s averaging 17.9 points, 10.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 2.7 blocks per game while shooting 54.7% from the field in 2024-2025.

With Broome out of the lineup, Auburn has inserted 6’7” senior Chaney Johnson into the starting five. Starting in place of Broome in Auburn’s 88-66 win over Mississippi State on Tuesday, Johnson put up a stat line of 17 points, 8 rebounds, an assist, 4 blocks, a steal, and a made three-pointer.

Georgia Bulldogs Game Notes

Bulldogs forward Asa Newell was solid in his team’s 74-56 loss to Tennessee on Wednesday night. In that contest, the 6’11” freshman recorded 13 points, 5 rebounds, an assist, a steal, and a made three-pointer in 32 minutes of game action. Newell shot 4 of 8 from the field and 4 of 4 from the foul line in the defeat.

Georgia guard Silas Demary Jr. also played well on Wednesday. The sophomore from Raleigh, NC logged 12 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, a block, 2 steals, and 4 made three-pointers. Demary is third on the team in scoring with 11.9 points per game this year.

Auburn is 9-5-1 ATS as a favorite this season.

The Tigers are 8-6-1 ATS after a win this season.

Georgia is 3-5 ATS in their last 8 games overall.

Georgia is 2-4 ATS as a home underdog since the start of last season.

Auburn vs. Georgia CBB Prediction:

Auburn could be without their best player, Johni Broome, for this contest. They could still play a great game without him. Broome left his team’s game against Georgia State on December 17th after just 2 minutes due to a shoulder injury. Auburn inserted senior forward Chaney Johnson in his place. In 30 minutes against Georgia State, Johnson racked up a game-high 26 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists as the Tigers cruised to a 100-59 victory.

Chaney Johnson filled in for Broome again on Tuesday and had 17 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 blocks as Auburn rolled to an 88-66 win over Mississippi State. Johnson shot 70% from the field or better in both games. I believe that Chaney Johnson is a good enough player to compensate for the potential loss of Johni Broome against Georgia on Saturday afternoon. For that reason, I’m laying the points with the #1 team in the land, the Auburn Tigers, this weekend.

Auburn vs. Georgia CBB Prediction: AUBURN TIGERS -6.5
