2012 College Basketball Opening Odds & Totals for Monday, January 9

Monday’s CBB Top 25 Odds

(TheSpread) – There are just two Top 25 games in Monday’s college basketball schedule, but they are key games in the Big East.

The Big East features a key doubleheader, beginning at 7PM ET with No. 8 Connecticut hosting West Virginia (View Matchup). Oddsmakers see the ranked Huskies as the favorite at home, giving them a point spread of -5 against the Mountaineers. The over/under total has been set at 138 points on Monday. Connecticut comes into the game with a 12-3 record and 9-0 at home while going 4-7 against the spread. WVU is 12-4 on the season and 1-2 on the road with a 9-4 record against the spread. Connecticut has won two of the last three games in the series and seven of the last 10. Both teams have injury concerns in the post as WVU center Pat Forsythe (back) and UConn center Michael Bradley (ankle) are both questionable to play.

In the other big Big East contest, No. 9 Georgetown welcomes Cincinnati to town for a 9PM ET tipoff (View Matchup). Oddsmakers see the Hoyas as the favorite with odds of -6.5 points. The over/under total has been set at 125 points. Georgetown comes into the game with a 13-2 overall record and a 9-0 mark at home. The Hoyas are 7-3 against the spread this season. Cincinnati is 12-4 on the year and 3-1 on the road while going 4-6 against the spread. Cincinnati has won its last two meetings with Georgetown and four of the last five in the series.
